The most undisturbed protected area of Nepal, Bardia National Park was established in 1976 with an area of 968 sq km. Later, 507 sq km was declared a buffer zone. Covered with grassland, savannah, and riverine forest adjoining the eastern bank of the Karnali River. The Babai River cuts through it.

The park is home to 642 species of animals and more than 500 species of resident and migratory birds. This intact wilderness is famous for tiger tracking. Photography in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is the best place for those who love birds and those who would be keen to photograph as many birds as they can. Located on the eastern plains of Nepal is home to more than 530 species of birds.

This wetland covers 175 sq km and comprises mudflats, reed beds, and freshwater marshes in the floodplains of the Sapta Koshi River. This Ramsar site-designated wildlife reserve has been home to numerous rare species, including Bengal floricans, storks, and lesser floricans.

    What to Bring

    1. Neutral colored clothing is recommended.
    2. Light clothing is needed for the daytime, with a sweater and warm jacket for the evenings from November to March.
