Description of the Location

Gokarna Forest Resort is large and spacious spreading over the area of a vast 470-acre forest. The forest provides shelter to various birds and animals including spotted deer, barking deer, and monkeys. All of which are easily visible from the resort grounds and during the hike inside the forest. Without a doubt, it is the nearest place in Kathmandu to spot spotted deer and for bird watching. Occasionally, you may spot the jackals and leopards in the forest.

The Gokarna Forest Resort is a birdwatcher's paradise, home to more than 60 different species.  Within the protected forest, birdwatchers can see a variety of exotic species in their natural habitats. In the months of winter, migratory birds are also spotable in the Bagmati and Manohara Rivers which are near the resort itself. In addition to jungle walks and birding inside the forest, you can extend your stay and go birding in these rivers and hiking in one of the oldest temples of Nepal, Changu Narayan in a day. The hiking gives you an experience of the countryside's daily lifestyle, and see farmers working in the open cultivating farmlands.
