The geographic diversity of this land-locked country rises from the elevation of 59m to 8848m and the variation in climate from tropical to alpine. This geographic and climatic variation as well as a large cover of forest and scrubland is the reason behind the diversity in the wildlife of Nepal. From rare and endangered animals like royal Bengal tigers, snow leopards and one-horned rhinos to the endemic bird species like spiny babbler can be found in the greenery and snow-capped hills and mountains of Nepal. Almost 208 species of mammals, 59 species of reptiles, over 900 species of birds, and 200 species of aquatic fauna inhabit this naturally gifted country.
