Rinzin Phunjok Lama won FFN Award 2024
Rinzin Phunjok Lama, 33 years old, hails from Humla district of Nepal. He is one of three winners of this year’s Future For Nature Award. He won with a financial prize of about NRs. 70 lakhs. He is a conservation biologist who collaborates closely with the local people to protect the endangered snow leopards in the remote mountains of Nepal.
With the money obtained through the FFN Award, Rinzin is planning to enhance his present initiatives. Expand his conservation activities across the valleys to further safeguard the area’s biodiversity. Focus on developing local leaders and organizing grassroots conservation efforts by his “leading by locals” philosophy. Track the snow leopard population trends, stop illicit activity, and lessen conflicts between people and wildlife.
The Future for Nature awards three young, talented, and motivated environmentalists annually. The FFN Award is provided to those who are dedicated to preserving wild animal and plant species. These people’s commitment determines the future of nature and the biodiversity of our world. Their leadership inspires and motivates communities, organizations, governments, investors, and the general public. In addition to receiving a warm welcome into the expanding FFN Family and international recognition for their work in environmental protection, the winners of this prize will receive €50,000.
